My Compositions

** represents compositions that are my favorite

Prepare for Landing- Composition 1**

Picture
My "Prepare for Landing" composition was my first ever creation in Music Tech class. I loved getting to know the Soundtrap program as I explored the various loops. I really wanted to make a song that was a bit untraditional thus I added in the stewardess and plane sound at the beginning of the song. I really love the beat drop that comes after the intro and was overall very proud of this being my first piece.

Modal Beats- Composition 2

The "Modal Beats" song was a way for us students to explore the different moods that come from different pieces of music. I decided to make a song that wasn't very sad but wasn't particularly happy either. I believe it puts listeners in an intellectual state of mind in which they are neither saddened nor pumped up my my song.

Flute Song- Composition 3

For the "flute song" I was once again experimenting with the various loop options. This song was definitely inspired by the rapper DaBaby who uses flute tracks in the majority of his songs. In addition to DaBaby, the song is also inspired by the song Fireflies by Owl City. These two artists are very different, however, I feel like I was able to combine their characteristics to create something pretty catchy.

Rushing Back Remix- Composition 4

The Rushing Back Remix was definitely one of the hardest compositions to complete. I was always used to cresting songs around my own key and tempo, however, I had to make a song around the singing instead. It was more difficult to find loops that matched well with the singing and tone of the lyrics. Also, at times it was hard to get the perfect beat drop or time the loops correctly so that everything flowed well together. I think my rendition of Rushing Back turned out good, however, I also see room fo improvement.

Better Times to Come- Composition 5**

This was my final composition in Music Tech class which was created to capture the feelings of COVID-19 possibly coming to an end. My song starts out slow as we adapt back to regular life but builds up and breaks out into happy and upbeat rhythms. I think this is by far my best composition for a multitude of reasons. For one, I have used a majority of loops to create a well-oiled song rather than a few interesting loops put together. I feel like my piece also is a musical rollercoaster ride as there are many build-ups and unexpected drops. I really enjoyed creating this piece and even broke the SoundTrap Loop program in the process lol. Click the button above to see the corresponding video.
